Legalities
Questions about licenses, speed limits, living in your van, or DVLA requirements? We’ve got you covered.
While you can park in many places, always check local regulations regarding overnight stays. Some areas may have restrictions, so it's wise to research beforehand. Respecting local laws ensures a smooth experience.
Yes, you can live in your campervan, but it must be registered as a motorhome. Ensure it meets the DVLA's criteria for habitation to avoid any legal issues.
This is generally an "only if you want to change the vehicles classification. You can convert a vehicle without doing so, and in most cases converted vans don't qualify for this change without external features such as awnings, multiple windows, and campervan type graphics. If this is something you'd like to do, we can handle all that for you and apply for the change of use with the DVLA.
Converted vans are subject to the same speed limits as other similar vehicles, unless their classification has been changed with the DVLA to a campervan. Generally this is 50mph on single carriageways and 60 mph on dual carriageways.
To drive a converted van, you typically need a standard UK driving licence. If your van weighs under 3.5 tonnes, your regular licence is sufficient. Always check the specifics of your vehicle to ensure compliance.
